Work on the Pedestrian Bridge over Route 22 in Burrell Township will pick up next Thursday.
PennDOT is announcing a two-way closure of the highway between the Route 119 and Route 217 interchanges at 10:00 PM on September 4th going to 6:00 the next morning. This will allow bridge girders to be installed. Drivers will use Walnut Street and Old William Penn Highway in Blairsville to the Route 119 interchange ramps as a detour during the closure.
There will still be access to businesses in that corridor during the closure, with flaggers controlling traffic at various intersections.
A rain date of September 8th and 9th is set if the weather does not cooperate. Contractors Merlo, Incorporated of Mineral Point will complete the $4.7 million project by mid-June of 2026.
