Four vehicle crashes were reported on Thursday by Indiana County 911.
The first was at midnight on Mulligan Hill Road in West Wheatfield Township. Clyde and Armagh Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene. The second was on Route 56 East in Center Township. Homer City Fire Department, Citizens Ambulance and State police were originally summoned at 2:38 PM, with Brush Valley firefighters sent out two minutes later to assist. A third accident brought Clyde and Armagh Firefighters to Mulligan Hill Road at 5:26 PM. Details on these incidents have not been released.
State Police from the Punxsutawney barracks did supply details on the fourth crash of the day, which was an collision involving a car and horse and buggy in North Mahoning Township. Troopers say at 6:00 PM, 44-year-old Thomas Pearce of Home was driving his truck and rear-ended a buggy on Route 210 near Azalea Drive. The impact ejected Melvin and Anna Byler and a child out of the buggy. Melvin was taken to Penn Highlands in Dubois by ambulance for treatment of serious injuries, while Anna was flown to the same hospital. The child was flown to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh with suspected serious injuries.
