Conemaugh Township wins the Heritage Conference Boys Golf Championship, River Valley wins the girls title, and the individual championships go to West Shamokin’s Alex Talnadge in a playoff and to River Valley’s Alessia LaMantia.
The tournament took place yesterday at Mannitto Golf Course in New Alexandria.
Talmadge defended his boys title with a one-hole playoff victory over Conemaugh Township’s Ben Steinbeck after both shot 76 through 18. Jeremy Reed finished third, two strokes off the pace, with Conemaugh Township’s Hayden Miller fourth (80), Homer-Center’s Reece Coy fifth (81), and River Valley’s Brady Doak sixth (82).
For the girls, LaMantia shot 94, three strokes better than teammate Madigan Dunlap. Portage’s Britton Myher was third (100), followed by three River Valley golfers, Maren Dunlap (103), Ashley Pynos (106), and Sara Bollinger (108).
In the boys team competition, Conemaugh Township’s 330 was eight strokes better than second place River Valley, with Homer-Center third at 358, one better than West Shamokin.
For the girls, there were four teams competing, with River Valley’s golfers averaging 101.6, followed by Portage’s average of 108, Conemaugh Township’s 114, and Northern Cambria’s 117.3.
