Conemaugh Township wasn’t backing down to undefeated Marion Center, but in the end the Stingers prevailed, 32-20, Friday night in the Heritage Conference Game of the Week.
Conemaugh Township drew first blood, scoring on the opening kickoff and led, 14-6, after one quarter. But Marion Center led at halftime and dominated the second half. Todd Marino had the recap on U92.5 FM.
Cambria Heights and River Valley stayed just a game behind the Stingers with two different styles of victory. The Highlanders overwhelmed winless Conemaugh Valley, 58-6, scoring the most points by a Heritage team so far this season. Meanwhile, in Armagh, River Valley got a kick out of beating United Valley, 10-7. Jeff Cribbs had the recap on Cat Country 106.3 FM.
At Homer-Center, Purchase Line turnovers thwarted three possessions and the Wildcats took advantage on their way to a 27-7 win, ending a two-game skid and Purchase Line’s two-game winning streak. Mark Bertig had the recap on WCCS and Renda Digital TV.
Other Heritage results Friday night included Penns Manor coming back to edge Portage, 21-20, and Northern Cambria thumping West Shamokin, 48-13.
