State police and other first responders are continuing to look for a man and his ultra-light airplane today.
Troopers say 75-year-old David Edward Wittmer of Altoona was practicing touch-and-go landings in his aircraft in a field near Church Street in Young Township last night. He took off between 6:00 and 6:30 PM and failed to return. His truck was found in a nearby field and his cellphone was in a nearby camper he was using. A search was started last night with Coal Run/McIntyre and Plumville fire departments helping out. The search resumed this morning with troopers bringing in the aviation patrol unit and drones to help out.
