Manufacturers in Indiana County are joining in tomorrow’s nationwide celebration of Manufacturing Day.
On Friday, companies across the county will open to the public and to students from across the area to provide tours, demonstrations and immersive experiences that focus on modern production. Miller Fabrication in Homer City and in Brookville, the IUP STEAMSHOP at the former RobertShaw building on campus and Urban Outfitters Distribution Center at Windy Ridge Business and technology park will be taking part in the day’s activities. Anyone interested in taking a tour can call the facilities directly, but reservations are not necessary for tomorrow.
The effort is coordinated by the Indiana County Center for Economic Operations and the Indiana County Manufacturing Consortium. The goal with the events is to show that manufacturing is important to everyone and that the industry is cutting-edge, innovative and full of opportunities. It will also highlight pathways from high school programs to college degrees to apprenticeships and full-time employment that will help the county build a sustainable workforce.
