IUP is reporting record breaking retention numbers for new, first-time bachelor’s degree-seeking students and increases in the undergraduate student population and for students continuing for a third year of study.
The retention rate for IUP’s first-time full-time bachelor’s degree students that started last fall and are continuing this fall went up by three percentage points over last year to 78.2. This marks the second consecutive increase in this category and is a seven percent increase over the last two years.
Total undergraduate student enrollment at the university is 7, 118, an increase of 107 students from the fall of 2024. An increase of 145 was reported in the new undergraduate students category, bringing the total to 1,887. There are 855 veteran and military-affiliated students enrolled for fall 2025, up from 834 last year. Of that, 714 of them are undergraduate students. Total student enrollment across all programs and at all levels for fall 2025 is 9,082, up from fall 2024 total enrollment of 9,081.
IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll said in a statement that the numbers are a major achievement and is proud of the work the IUP Faculty and staff do every day, and the student success team for “transforming the student experience through centralized advising, targeted academic support, and real-time data insights – ensuring every student gets the guidance they need, when they need it.”
