White Township has published its fall leaf collection schedule, which starts October 27th, then continues on the next four consecutive Mondays (November 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th.) Leaves should be placed in paper collection bags and set at curbside or the ditch line on public roadways by 7 AM on the collection day. There are items which will not be picked up by township crews, including bags weighing more than fifty pounds, leaves in plastic bags or loose piles, bags left in driveways off the roadway right-of-way, and grass clippings, branches, brush, or garden waste.
Leaves, yard waste, cardboard, and other recyclable materials may be dropped off year-round, 24/7 at the Indiana County Recycling Center at 1715 Route 119 South in Homer City.
Indiana Borough’s fall limb collection is scheduled for the week of October 20th and the leaf collection will be the following week. Limbs and branches of less than six inches in diameter must be stacked neatly at curbside, not on the street, with cut ends facing in the same direction. Leaves must be raked in piles between the curb and the sidewalk and not bagged. They must not be near fire hydrants, poles, and parked cars. Other yard clippings, sticks, and garden refuse must be taken to the county recycling center. That’s also where the leaves will end up, for composting.
There is also some road work on this week’s schedule in Indiana. A contractor for Pennsylvania American Water Company will be working on South Cherry Avenue between Church Street and Gompers Avenue, and there is water company work also scheduled near Church and South 4th and Church and South Second Street. The borough will also be working on Klondyke Avenue between Paper Mill Avenue and Church Street.
