Thursday night, the Homer-Center School Board heard from members of the Homer-Center Education Association about the ongoing contract negotiations.
The two sides have been working on a new three-year agreement for over a year with the previous agreement with that agreement ending August 14th. Last night, the union presented the board with a petition signed by the union’s leadership asking for a fair contract. Union President Cindy Scott expressed the union’s concern.
The main sticking points are salary and the rising cost of health insurance. Board member Gerald Bertig, who is on the negotiating committee, did not quote specific numbers but said what has been offered is record breaking.
The two sides will meet next week to continue negotiations.
