A multi-state hearing in Harrisburg on Tuesday will examine the issues affecting the electricity grid that serves Pennsylvania and a dozen other states. PJM Interconnection has become a hot topic within the energy industry as prices for electricity continue to rise at alarming rates and new projects such as AI data centers place increasing pressure on energy producers. Wholesale energy prices in the PJM region recently rose almost tenfold over last year.
Hosted by policymakers from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia, the hearing titled “Powering the Mid-Atlantic: Restoring Energy Affordability and Reliability” will not only explore PJM, but state policies that affect energy supply and put the gird at risk. Among the speakers will be Maddie Milam of the Consumer Energy Alliance, Rob Jennings of the American Petroleum Institute, PJM’s Stephen Bennett, Elizabeth Stelle of the Commonwealth Foundation, and Republican lawmakers from the four states involved in the hearing.
The hearing will be livestreamed at www.policycommittee.com.
