The Pennsylvania budget impasse is about to enter its fifth month and a spending plan is not yet in sight.
Details on the recent budget discussions in the state house were not released, but State Representative Jim Struzzi did say that progress is being made.
The state house and senate are both in session today.
In a related story, State Treasurer Stacy Garrity announced that another 24 organizations have received budget bridge loan funding. Since the start of the program, the Tresaurer’s office has awarded over $21 million to 48 groups, including 11 head-start agencies, 36 pre-k counts providers and one rape crisis center. $500 million is being made available through the program, which will carry a low interest rate. Budget Bridge Loans must be used for immediate operating expenses and paid back within ten business days of receipt of state funds.
