The District 6 football playoffs kick off tonight and we have games on our Renda Media radio stations and on Renda Digital TV.
In a Class A matchup on WCCS and Renda Digital TV, Greg Page and his third-seeded, 7-3 Homer-Center Wildcats host number six Moshannon Valley, which is 4-6,
Page is impressed with the Black Knights.
Page sees a lot of talent all-around when he scouts Mo Valley.
Mo Valley coach Chris Davidson says they’ll be ready.
Davidson says the Black Knights will have to be adjust on the fly when the Wildcats make big plays.
Elsewhere in Class A, number eight Purchase Line battles top seed Bishop Guilfoyle at Mansion Park in Altoona. Number seven Northern Cambria visits number three Juniata Valley, and third-seeded Claysburg-Kimmel plays number six Glendale.
In AA, four Heritage Conference teams will be on the field tonight, two of them against each other. On Renda Digital TV, number five Marion Center visits number four Cambria Heights in a rematch of their Week Four classic, when the Stingers rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit to win, 26-25. Both teams come into the game at 9-1.
Marion Center coach Adam Rising says the Highlanders force their opponents to play mistake-free football.
Rising says Cambria Heights puts a lot of pressure on an opposing defense.
Highlanders coach Jarrod Lewis says both teams have grown since that Week Four game.
Lewis says they’ll have to limit Marion Center’s big play ability, and it wouldn’t hurt to take the ball away, either.
On Cat Country 106.3 FM and Renda Digital TV, third-seeded 9-1 River Valley will tackle number six Bellwood-Antis, which is 6-4. By a 5-0 vote, the PIAA has upheld the District 6 ruling that River Valley’s transfer player Brody Hutter is ineligible for the playoffs.
Panthers coach Ed Dalton says the Blue Devils’ offense is old-school and hard to prepare for.
Dalton says in District 6, you always know you’re in for a battle.
On 92.5 FM U92, 7-3 United Valley is on the road at number two 9-1 Richland.
Lions coach Lou McElwee says the Rams are a handful.
McElwee says Richland executes its spread offense very well.
The other AA game is Bald Eagle Area at Bishop McCort.
