Coach Dan Muse says the Penguins didn’t play 60 minutes of hockey.
Muse didn’t say much to the Penguins players after the game but there will be plenty to say after they review the video.
The Penguins lost forward Noel Acciari to an undisclosed injury in the first period. Forward Justin Brazeau missed his second straight game for undisclosed reasons.
The Penguins have a decision to make about defenseman Harrison Brunicke, who played his ninth game of the season. If he appears in another game, that will activate his rookie contract and the Penguins will have to either keep him on their NHL roster or send him back to his junior team, thereby paying him to play for another team, which is unlikely.
The Penguins and Capitals face off Thursday at 7:30 at PPG Paints Arena.
