Today is the 2025 general election.
Polls open at seven this morning and will close at eight o’clock tonight. On the ballot for this election include county row offices. While many of those races have only one candidate listed, the county coroner’s race will be contested as incumbent Jerry Overman, Jr. will face challenger Cinny Bratton.
Other races on the ballot include many municipal races, including local school boards, borough councils and township supervisors. Races that are expected to be closely watched include the Indiana Borough Council races as Nathaniel Vanderneck and Jonathan Smith are on the ballot along with Madison Sabo and Kimberly Dodds for a four-year term for the east ward along with Betsy Sarneso and Aaron Ludwig for a two-year term. In the west ward, Kathy Maple, Garrett Mines, Luke DeBuyser and Tamara Collazzo are running for a four-year seat on council. The Indiana Mayor’s position is also up for grabs as incumbent William Simmons is running against Charles Smelton.
The Homer-Center School Board is also up for grabs. On the ballot are five names for four positions, including Michael Bertig, Misty Hunt, Alan Shank, Kelly Elliott and Vicki Smith. In Homer City Borough, incumbent Mayor Arlene Wanatosky is running against Kyle Cobaugh.
