Efforts are underway to assist the families who lost children in Sunday morning’s fatal fire in Buffington Township.
The victims were identified by their families on Facebook as 14-year-old Justin Hasse and 12-year-old Emily Rummel, both students in the United School District. The Rummel family also lost their home in the fire on Dilltown Heights Road. No word yet on the cause of the fire.
GoFundMe pages have been set up for both families and as of this morning, each has raised over $5000, which will go towards medical expenses for Rummel’s mother, who was reportedly hurt in the fire, along with funeral costs for both families. To contribute, click on the links below.

Also, the United School District is asking people to make contributions to help replace what was lost in the fire. They will collect men’s and women’s clothing and shoes to directly assist the family. We have the sizes posted in this story on our website. Those items can be dropped off at the United Jr./Sr. High Main Office through Friday from 8-3 each day.
