Steelers fans were shocked by the news yesterday that TJ Watt had been hospitalized Wednesday for a lung ailment. Coach Mike Tomlin explained what happened.
Tomlin did not respond when asked if Watt had suffered the discomfort while receiving medical treatment for a lung injury, which was how ESPN reported it. The Steelers’ official statement was that Watt was undergoing “further medical evaluation of his lung after experiencing discomfort at the practice facility on Wednesday.”
Fellow edge rusher Alex Highsmith said the concern was not Watt’s availability for Monday’s game against the Dolphins.
As far as the Dolphins game coming up on Monday, quarterback Aaron Rodgers says December is crunch time in the NFL for teams that want to make the playoffs.
Rodgers says teams like the Steelers and his former team, the Packers, expect to play meaningful games when the season enters its home stretch.
At practice yesterday, tackle Andrus Peat sat out with continuing concussion issues. Defensive tackle Derrick Harmon was out again after missing the last two games with a knee injury, but said he expects to play on Monday. Ben Skowronek and James Pierre were out as well. Malik Harrison and Darnell Washington were both limited. Safety Kyle Dugger was a full participant.
