The Indiana County Sheriff’s Office announced this morning that a scam is going through the area concerning people that have concealed weapons permits.
In a post to the Sheriff’s office Facebook page, Sheriff Fyock said that they were informed of a nationwide scam which involves text messages saying that the potential victim’s concealed carry permit is about to expire or it needs changed. The text message will also include a link to a website. Fyock said that the link is a malicious one and was not generated by the Sheriff’s office.
If you have received this message, the best thing to do is to avoid clicking the link and delete it. Anyone with any concerns about their gun permits should contact the Sheriff’s office.
