Three fires were reported in the last 24 hours by Indiana County 911.
The first was at 4:31 PM at a home on Route 156 in South Bend Township in Armstrong County. Elderton fire crews were first on the scene. Indiana County 911 sent the Iselin-West Lebanon, Indiana, Coal Run and Creekside fire departments out to assist. According to Elderton fire officials, the building was destroyed. Two dogs and a cat were killed. Two people were able to get out. Ten fire companies were on scene fighting the blaze. Homer City was called in for rehab duty later on. The fire was caused by a wood burner. Crews were on the scene for about 90 minutes. The American Red Cross is providing assistance with a place to stay and some clothes.
A second fire was called in at 11:49 last night for a property on Fulton Run Road in White Township. Creekside and Indiana firefighters were sent out for what was reported to be a flue fire.
The third came at 1:36 this morning on Route 22 East in East Wheatfield Township. Crews from Armagh-East Wheatfield, Clyde and New Florence fire departments were sent out along with Citizen’s Ambulance. Details on the fire have not been released yet.
