Scorpions bassist Francis Buchholz is dead at 71 after a private battle with cancer.
Buchholz’s family announced he died on Thursday and thanked fans for their unwavering support over the years in a post on social media. The beloved bassist was a lifelong musician who rose to popularity as a member of Scorpions, playing on hits like the 1984 rock anthem “Rock You Like a Hurricane” and the 1990 ballad “Wind of Change.”
Buchholz departed from the group in 1992 and later teamed up with Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock for their 2012 tour and contributed to two of the band’s albums.
