“The Road to the KCAC, Presented by First Commonwealth Bank”, takes the first of the two final steps toward Friday’s Heritage Conference basketball championships, with the boys semifinals. Tomorrow, the girls semifinals will set the final matchups for Friday night.
Tonight, undefeated United, the first-place team out of the East, takes on West number two Marion Center. The Lions are 20-0, the Stingers are 12-7 and United won their first matchup on December 9th, 61-52.
Lions coach Matt Rodkey says MC is a much better team than they were in December.
United has been a contender for the Heritage Conference title for a number of years and won it in 2022. Rodkey says his team has worked hard to get another shot at a championship.
In the other semifinal, West number one River Valley, at 16-5, tangles with East second-place finisher Conemaugh Township, which comes into the game at 17-3. The two played each other on December 9th, the same night Marion Center played United, and Township ran away with it, 67-36, outscoring the Panthers, 44-18 in the second half.
Both games tonight will be on Renda Digital TV, with airtime at 6:45.
Tomorrow night, the girls semifinals feature West first-place finisher Penns Manor hosting Cambria Heights and East number one United welcoming Marion Center. Those games, too, will be on Renda Digital TV.
