Joseph Peter Petras, 81, of Clymer, died Saturday, February 28th at the Maple Heights Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ebensburg. He died following his 81st birthday. Born, February 27, 1945 in Binghamton, NY, he was the son of the late Peter Petras and Susan (Zapotocky) Petras.
Joe retired from Polyvision, formerly Greensteel Industries in Dixonville, where he had worked for more than 40 years. Following his retirement, he worked at Luigi’s in Clymer.
He enjoyed fishing, watching Steeler games and eating sweet treats. To say Joe had a sweet tooth would have been an understatement. He loved Suzy Q cupcakes, Twinkies, Ding Dongs and many other delicious snacks, including ice cream and eating at McDonalds. He loved his parakeet “Tweety” but loved his family even more. He especially treasured the times he spent with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed being with his friends at the Twolick Valley Senior Center in Clymer.
Joe is remembered by his sons: Michael J. Petras and his companion, Bev of Clymer and Mark A. Petras and his girlfriend, Mindy of Commodore. He is sadly missed by his four grandchildren: Jacob, Katy and Madison Petras and Jaxson Rabold, as well as by his sister, Patty Gaydos and husband Don of Indiana. Joe is also survived by several nieces and by his former daughter-in-law: Candice McGlynn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: sister, Dorothy Krolick; grandson, Brady Petras; daughter-in-law, Julie Petras and niece, Tracy Gaydos.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held later this year. Burial of his urn will be held at East Mahoning Cemetery in Purchase Line at the grave of his grandson, Brady.
