Monday night, the Indiana School Board approved allowing some members of the district’s administration to sign a petition asking to bring House Bill 41 to the floor of the State House of Representatives.
The bill would empower the PIAA to create separate playoffs and championships for public and private schools. Academic and Extracirricular Committee Chairman Eric Brocious said that it would level the playing field concerning public schools that are forced to recruit within district boundaries and private schools that can recruit from anywhere.
The PIAA has said they will not create the separate championships unless empowered by the state government.
In other business, the board approved the letter of intent with Coral Ree for further development of the district’s proposed solar project.
