From the US National Weather Service
A strong cold front will cross our area on Monday, bringing a line of showers & thunderstorms through eastern OH during the pre-dawn hours, across northern WV and PA during the morning, and into the ridges by early afternoon. For most of our area, this timing will *lower* severe weather potential, and it’s possible most of us end up with just gusty morning showers. Storms will reinvigorate as they move east and severe weather potential grows. A level 2 of 5 risk (yellow) is in effect east of Pittsburgh. However, the most widespread severe weather is expected well east of our area where a level 4 of 5 risk is in effect for later in the afternoon/evening.
Severe weather outlooks run from 8 AM to 8 AM the following day, so storm “events” that cross 8 AM get two outlooks, which can be a little confusing.
The first graphic covers through 8 AM Monday. Level 1 of 5 risk (darker green) can be seen farther west as showers and storms weaken moving into our area.
The second covers the rest of Monday morning (after 8 AM) and afternoon as showers and storms cross out area and strengthen as they move east during the early afternoon. The primary threat will be damaging wind.
Speaking of damaging wind, a Wind Advisory has been issued for today and into tonight for the PA ridges and the northern counties along I-80. The strongest winds will remain west of the forecast area.
