James Gadson, a drummer who backed artists like Diana Ross and Bill Withers, is dead at 86-years-old.
The musician’s wife, Barbara, confirmed his passing to Rolling Stone on April 2nd. She noted that he had recently faced health challenges, including a fall that injured his back.
Gadson’s drumming can be heard on Withers “Lean on Me” and “Use Me,” The Jackson 5’s “Dancing Machine, and Ross’ “Love Hangover.”
