UPDATE: As of 10:58 AM, 422 has reopened in both directions, but Fire Chief Jody Rainey asks that drivers exercise caution in the area as REA crews are still working on fixing power lines that came down as part of the crash.
WHAT WAS FIRST REPORTED
A portion of Route 422 remains closed at this time due to a crash where a car hit a residential structure.
The crash was reported at 9:26 AM by Indiana County 911. Cherryhill Township and Pine Township firefighters were sent out at the time. Cherryhill Township Fire Chief Jody Rainey said the car drifted off the road between Diehl Road and Route 259 and hit the building, causing minor damage to the building.
The driver was taken to IRMC for evaluation. The road remains closed as a power line is down. REA Energy crews were called to the scene to make repairs.
