The James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center has announced it received a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Their annual Hospital Quality Star Ratings are based on five categories: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care. Nationwide, about 78% of VA hospitals listed in the ranking received a rating of four or five stars in the 2026 report.
The five-star ranking is an improvement over last year’s four-star rank. In a statement, Interim Medical Center Director David DiGiacomo said the five-star rating “underscores our commitment to delivering safe, timely and high-quality care,” and it is also “a reflection of the dedication our entire team brings to caring for Veterans every day.”
