WHAT WAS FIRST REPORTED
Today is the start of the PIAA baseball and softball playoffs, and three Indiana County teams are in the hunt for a state championship.
Homer-Center is back in the state playoffs in the 1-A division and will face the defending state champion Southern Fulton, the number one seed from District 5. The wildcats are coming off a 10-0 six-inning loss to Claysburg-Kimmel last Wednesday in the District 6 Championship Round.
Coach Scott Bauer said while the team was disappointed with the loss, they snapped to it at the next practice.
Bauer said the team is coming in with a lot of experience, including last year’s deep playoff run, and the younger members are drawing on it.
Airtime for tonight’s game from McConnellsburg High School is 6:40 on WCCS.
The Indiana baseball team will start its defense of the PIAA quad-A championship tonight by hosting Somerset at the White Township Recreation Complex. Indiana comes into the game at 18-4 and the champions of the WPIAL. Somerset is the champion of District 5 and they have a record of 16-5. Airtime is 4:10 on Renda Digital TV. We have the link to the video embedded on the front page of all our Renda Media websites.
And in softball, Purchase Line will start its run in the single-A playoffs with a game at 4:00 PM at Union High School against Union. Purchase Line was third in District 6 play while Union won the WPIAL.
