The “Save Our Saltsburg Schools” Group has filed a new lawsuit in Indiana County Court as part of their effort to stop the reorganization of the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District.
Joel Sansone, who is the attorney for the group, said that the lawsuit filed in Indiana County Court seeks to bring the charges filed at a federal level down to the state level where the judge has jurisdiction in the case.
The group’s mission remains the same: to stop the reorganization of the district that would close the Saltsburg Middle-High School, reopen it as a STEAM academy for the district, and bus middle and high school students from Saltsburg to Blairsville to attend classes at the Blairsville campus. The group feels that the changes would be detrimental to the students and to the Saltsburg community as a whole.
Late last month, a federal lawsuit filed by the group was dismissed with prejudice at the U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh. The ruling stated that federal court had no jurisdiction on the matter.
