Robert C. McCrea, 83 of Blairsville, PA, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, surrounded by his family, at St. Anne Home, Greensburg, PA. He was born March 1, 1943 in Blacklick Twp., PA, the son of the late John Thompson McCrea and Geraldine Irene (Marshall) McCrea.
Robert was a 1961 graduate of Blairsville High School and belonged to Hopewell Church. He worked at Helen Mining Company for 24 years and in his later years he worked as a township supervisor. He was always proud to keep the roads of Black Lick Township clean and clear. He worked for Black Lick Township past the age of 80. He enjoyed operating equipment of all kinds, from farm tractors, to dump trucks, to most recently his zero-turn mower. Anything with an engine, he could operate it. He was a hard worker throughout his life, but you never heard him complain. An honest, strong, proud man with a gentle soul who loved his family through and through and enjoyed spending time with them. He lived his whole life on the family farm.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, LaDonna J. (Libengood) McCrea, Blairsville, PA; daughter, Mitzi Pynos & husband, T.J., Cranberry Twp, PA; son, Robert John McCrea & wife, Kerri, Industry, PA; grandchildren: Teddy, Aaron & Mason Pynos and John, Morgan & Justin McCrea; siblings: Doris Jean Ramsden & husband, Bill, Blairsville, PA, Margaret Babco, Blairsville, PA, Donna Griffith & husband, Terry, Indiana, PA, and Gayle Sickora & husband, Greg, Latrobe, PA and also his sister-in-law, Marilyn Parisi, NC. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lisa McCrea in 1986 and siblings: Mary Frances Marsh, William McCrea, Jackie Cunkleman and Ruth Smith.
The family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home & Monument Company, 25 W. Market St. Blairsville, PA 15717 on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday in the funeral home at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating. Interment will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana, PA.
