In 1981 Mark David Chapman pled guilty to first-degree murder charges for the killing of John Lennon.
In 2004 The Lollapalooza tour was cancelled because of poor ticket sales, three weeks before the festival was to begin.
In 2007 The Bon Jovi episode of “Unplugged” made its debut on MTV, relaunching the series.
In 2011 Former KISS guitarist Vinnie Vincent agreed to undergo eight hours of anger management therapy as part of a plea deal to resolve his aggravated assault charge. The case stemmed from an arrest a month earlier in which the rocker allegedly attacked his wife during an argument.
In 2012 Elvis Presley’s crypt was pulled from a music and sports memorabilia auction just two days before the sale, following objections from Elvis fans who wanted the crypt to be preserved as a shrine. Presley’s remains were housed at the crypt at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery in Memphis immediately following his death in August 1977, and remained there until Elvis’ father received permission to bury his son at his Graceland mansion.
In 2016 Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant told a court hearing the ‘Stairway To Heaven’ copyright dispute that he had a dim memory of the time the song was written.
In 2019 Drummer and producer Jerry Carrigan died at the age of 75.
