In 1970 Chubby Checker was arrested for marijuana possession.
In 1975 Alice Cooper fell off the set of his “Welcome To My Nightmare” tour in Vancouver, and broke six ribs.
In 1977 The Who’s drummer Keith Moon joined Led Zeppelin on stage during a concert in Los Angeles. He sat in with John Bonham for the drummer’s solo, “Moby Dick.”
In 1984 Duran Duran started a two week run at No.1 on the U.S. singles chart with ‘The Reflex’, the group’s first US No.1, which was taken from their third album, Seven and the Ragged Tiger.
In 2004 David Bowie cut short a concert in Prague because of severe shoulder pain that at the time he said was a pinched nerve. Bowie later revealed that he had a heart condition.
Bob Dylan received an honorary Doctor of Music from St. Andrews University in St. Andrews, Scotland. He attended the afternoon ceremony before heading to Glasgow for a concert that evening.
Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash and his wife Perla Hudson celebrated the birth of their son Cash Anthony Hudson.
In 2006 Robert Plant, Ian Hunter, Nils Lofgren, Garland Jeffreys, and Ryan Adams were among the performers at “We’re Doing It For Love: A Benefit Concert for Arthur Lee,” a fundraiser to help the former Love frontman pay for treatment in his struggle against leukemia.
In 2007 The Smashing Pumpkins launched a nine-night residency at The Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina in support of the group’s reunion CD, “Zeitgeist.”
In 2010 Gregg Allman underwent a liver transplant at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. The singer had been battling Hepatitis C.
Original Kinks bassist Peter Quaife died of kidney failure in Denmark. He was 66.
In 2012 Metallica launched their inaugural Orion Music + More Festival in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Suicidal Tendencies, Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold, Modest Mouse, the Gaslight Anthem, Cage the Elephant, and country singer Eric Church were among those who joined Metallica for the two-day, multi-stage event.
In 2016 American bluegrass artist Ralph Stanley who was known for his distinctive singing and banjo playing, died aged 89.
