The investigation continues into an officer-involved shooting Sunday night in Indiana Borough.
Indiana Borough Police chief Justin Schawl said that officers were sent to the 100 block of North Cherry Avenue for a domestic disturbance after a woman had called 911 about the incident involving an un-named man. Schawl confirmed an officer was injured during the call and an officer-involved shooting happened during the call. The State Police Troop A Major Case squad was called in to take over the investigation.
Troopers said in a statement last night that there is no threat to the public. No other information on the investigation has been released.
Chief Schawl said in his statement that this call has impacted everyone involved and he is asking for patience and continued trust as the investigation moves forward. He also expressed his appreciation to Citizen’s Ambulance for their prompt response, along with state police, and police from IUP, Homer City and Blairsville borough.
