A teenager from Lucernemines will go before a judge today for a sentencing hearing connected with vehicle break-ins in Indiana Borough.
Borough Police say 19-year-old William Zahorchak was arrested in the early morning hours of November 6th in connection with a report of him and another person going through backyards and breaking into cars in the 100 block of Wherle Way. He and another person were seen fleeing by police, and officers found Zahorchak hiding behind a bush. He was found with a loaded .38 caliber handgun and some of the stolen items. His reported co-conspirator, 19-year-old Collin Daugherty, was identified and charged about a month later.
Zahorchak pleaded guilty to charges of evading arrest or detention on foot, theft by unlawful taking, and possession of an offensive weapon. Other charges of carrying a firearm without a license, and loitering or prowling at night were not prosecuted. Daugherty is charged with loitering and prowling at night and evading arrest or detention on foot. He was released on his own recognizance to await a formal arraignment on July 28th.
