In 1971 A, quote, “mini-riot” broke out at a Mott the Hoople concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The venue temporarily banned rock concerts following the incident.
In 1984 U2 frontman Bono and Van Morrison joined Bob Dylan on stage to sing “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue” at Wembley Stadium.
In 1988 Stevie Wonder announced that he planned to run for mayor of Detroit in 1992. Such a direct move into politics never happened.
In 1995 A plane in which Rod Stewart was riding had to make an unscheduled landing in Sweden after it hit a bird.
In 1997 Former Kiss guitarist Vinne Vincent filed a suit against the band and its record label over unpaid royalties.
In 2000 Iron Maiden was forced to cancel concerts in Germany, Bulgaria, and Greece after guitarist Janick Gers fell head-first from the stage during a show in Germany. He was bruised over most of his body and required numerous stitches in his forehead.
In 2003 David Lee Roth released the album “Diamond Dave.”
In 2004 David Bowie revealed that he had angioplasty surgery for a blocked artery, which was why he had to cancel his European tour. Initial reports said the singer was suffering from a pinched nerve in his shoulder.

In 2005 Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and Patti LaBelle were among the mourners at the funeral for Luther Vandross at Riverside Church in New York.

In 2012 Elton John received Poland’s Medal of Gratitude during his concert in Sopot, in recognition of his support for Poland’s Solidarity movement back in the 1980s. Former Polish President and Solidarity movement leader Lech Walesa made the presentation during the show.
In 2013 Bon Jovi’s Jon Bon Jovi met with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to discuss the progress of Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in the rocker’s hometown of Sayreville. He also announced that he was making a one-million-dollar donation to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.
In 2023 British singer-songwriter Elton John completes his international “Farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour” at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
