Ted E. Stewart, 80, of Commodore, PA passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2206 at Haida Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hastings, PA surrounded by his loving family.
The son of the late Ted F. and Earline M. (Cowan) Stewart, he was born on July 29, 1945 in Grant Twp., Indiana Co., PA.
Following graduation from Marion Center High School, Ted enlisted in the US Army and served during the Vietnam War.
He attended the Purchase Line Church of the Brethren.
An outdoorsman, Ted enjoyed fishing and hunting. He greatly enjoyed his elk and mule deer hunting trips out West.
He was a member of the of the East Run Sportsman’s Club, Twolick Rod & Gun Club and the Clymer American Legion Post #222.
Ted retired in 2011 following twelve years of employment as a corrections officer at the Camp Hill, Marienville and Cresson state prisons. He had previously worked five years at a steel mill in Pittsburgh, PA and thirty years as a coal miner at local deep coal mining companies.
On November 15, 2003, he wed Jeanene (Patterson) McCombs and they have shared over twenty-two years of marriage together.
Ted is survived by his wife, Jeanene of Commodore, PA; his two sons: Tom H. Stewart and wife Catherine (Meholick) of Sykesville, PA and Steve Stewart of Dallas, GA; his two grandchildren: Jacob Stewart and Mary Kate Stewart and husband, Derek and his great granddaughter, Harper Rose Stewart.
Also surviving are his three stepsons: Larry McCombs and wife Marie of Commodore, PA; Matthew McCombs and wife Becky of Nicktown, PA and Steven McCombs and wife Lacy of Ingleside, TX; five step-grandchildren: Paityn McCombs; Lauren McCombs; Hunter McCombs; Brooke McCombs and Alyssa McCombs; his three siblings: Eugene E. Stewart and wife Sharon (Smith) of Marion Center, PA; Deloris Kiesel and husband George of Seward, PA and Gary D. Stewart and wife Judy (Keller) of Marion Center, PA and his sister-in-law, Lois (Harkins) Stewart of Marion Center, PA.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers: Vernon E. Stewart and Ronald C. Stewart, Sr.
Family and friends will be received from 1-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA, where a 4:00 p.m. funeral service will be officiated by Pastor John Traxler immediately following the visitation. Military honors will be observed by the Clymer American Legion Post. Private interment will be at the Diamondville Cemetery in Diamondville, PA.
