The Pirates woes continue as Paul Skenes looked ineffective again last night, one key Pirates player was injured, and they dropped another close one to the Cincinnati Reds. Joe Block reports.
Ryan O’Hearn is going to be out of the lineup for the foreseeable future. In the top of the 9th, he was hurt as he was running towards first base on a groundout. He needed to be helped off the field, and was seen with crutches after the game. Pirates Manager Don Kelly says it is a left quad injury, but there’s no official diagnosis yet, and it’s not known how long he will be out.
Meanwhile, the Pirates and Reds will continue play today. Braxton Ashcraft will start for the Bucs (10-4, 4.05 ERA) against Andrew Abbott for the Reds (5-6, 3.85 ERA). Game time is 6:40 and we’ll have the game for you at 6:15 on WCCS.
