Tackle Zach Banner put on the pads and saw some action for the Steelers at training camp yesterday. Banner went down with a torn ACL in the first regular season game last season and has been working his way back slowly during camp.
The Steelers are getting ready for Thursday night’s preseason opener, the Hall of Fame game against the Cowboys, and coach Mike Tomlin says that’s his focus this week.
Tomlin said the absence of running back Benny Snell yesterday was due to an injury the team is evaluating, but he didn’t say what that injury was. He also said safety Terrell Edmunds had off-season surgery but did not say on what. Edmunds has been held out of most physical contact work in camp.
Center JC Hassenauer and running back Jaylen Samuels returned to practice, but linemen Chuks Okorafor and Kevin Dotson were still sidelined along with linebacker Marcus Allen, tackle Anthony Coyle, and wideout Cody White. Linebacker TJ Watt, tight end Eric Ebron, and defensive end Stephon Tuitt continued to do only conditioning work.
