It was a busy day for Indiana County’s first responders as they dealt with several calls including several calls for utility lines down during the strong storms that came through the area yesterday.
Starting at noon yesterday, crews responded to five lines down calls. The first was at 12:12 PM, with Indiana First Association crew called out to Metz Road in White Township. At 2:19 PM, Aultman Volunteer Fire Department was called to Route 286 west in Center Township for lines down. The third lines down call came in at 5:58 PM for a portion of 286 in Young Township, with a tree also reported down. Coal Run / McIntyre Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for that. Saltsburg Fire Department was called out at 8:03 PM to Sportsman Road in Conemaugh Township and at 8:47 PM, lines were reported down on Airport Road in Burrell Township. Blairsville and Black Lick fire departments responded.
Other calls included a three-vehicle rear-end collision around 3:00 PM on Wayne Avenue in Indiana Borough. Borough police said one person had minor injuries and was taken to IRMC for treatment. Police have not released a report on that crash yet.
