The first NCAA Division II Super Region One rankings have been released and IUP is ranked sixth after losing two straight games, to Lock Haven and Slippery Rock. Slippery Rock, Kutztown, East Stroudsburg, Virginia State, and West Liberty make up the Top Five. After IUP, numbers seven through ten are Virginia Union, Johnson C. Smith, Franklin Pierce, and Assumption.
Eight teams from each of the four regions will make up the Division II playoffs. This is the first year the rankings are determined by a mathematical formula, the NCAA Power Index.
IUP plays the annual Coal Bowl at Cal on Saturday, kicking off at 5 PM.
