A big week for the Heritage Conference will include the conference cross country championships, the volleyball championship, and a big Friday night of football that will go a long way toward determining the football champion.
The cross country championship is tomorrow at Portage’s Maplecrest Golf Course, beginning at 4:30 PM. It’s a unique venue where spectators can see the entire course throughout the race, and this year it offers the double advantage of giving the Heritage Conference teams a chance to run the same course that will be used next week for the District 6 cross country championship.
The volleyball championship event will start Saturday morning at the KCAC beginning at 9, with two best-of-three semifinals, featuring the same four teams as last year. Conemaugh Township plays West Shamokin in the first semifinal and Purchase Line taking on Northern Cambria in the second semi. The best-of-five championship match will follow. Cost of admission will be five dollars for the entire event.
Friday’s football action will feature the top two teams in the conference, unbeaten Cambria Heights against 7-1 Homer-Center. That game will be on Renda Digital TV with a special one-hour pregame starting at 6. Two 6-2 teams will also meet when River Valley hosts Marion Center, also on Renda Digital TV, starting at 6:15.
