IUP Tennis dominated the ITA Atlantic Region Tournament, yesterday sending three entries to the ITA Nationals in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
In Bloomsburg, IUP had three of the four semifinal doubles teams in the Regional, with Asel Calbay and Chia Ying Lu defeating Crimson Hawks teammates Ifigeneia Kafka and Charliz Tabili in straight sets in the final. Both doubles finalists make the nationals.
In singles, 12th-seeded Kafka upset her teammate, top-seeded Lea Von Kozierowski, in the semis to earn a spot in Alabama. Kafka lost to the University of Charleston’s Pimlaphat Lim, the 4th seed, in the final.
The national tournament in Tuscaloosa is November 4th through the 8th.
