Corey Hessen, the CEO of Homer City Generation, said on Indiana In the Morning on WCCS last week that the company will begin hiring personnel to operate the gas-fired power plant most likely in January, with the plant coming online and producing electricity in the second quarter of 2028. Hessen said it will take about eighteen months of training to get the staff ready to operate the $10 billion plant which will be one of the largest gas-fired plants in the nation.
When the operational staff begins coming on board, they will be working with two of the seven gas turbines that will be the first to come online and produce electricity, while the installation of the other five is being completed. IHI Power Services, which last summer became Kyuden Energy Partners Corporation (KEPC), will operate the plant.
