A former managing editor of the Indiana Gazette has died.
Carl Kologie passed over the weekend at the age of 91. He started with the Gazette as a sports reporter and editor in 1961 and continued to maintain a presence with the paper until 2016, when he wrote his final column.
Former Renda Media News Anchor and staff writer for the Gazette Chauncey Ross called Kologie “a force of nature”, and said that if Kologie was on a story, he would be able to get it quickly.
IUP Play-by-play man Jack Benedict worked alongside Kologie for many years and said that he was a part of the community in many different ways.
He also had a brief run with Renda Media as a color commentator for Indiana High Football in 2004. Kologie was also the longtime emcee of the “It’s A Wonderful Life” parade in Downtown Indiana.
Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker funeral home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements, which have not been released as of yet.
