
A new report issued by the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts details school bus passing violations and school zone speeding violations that passed through the state’s courts over the last five years.
The report shows thirty illegal passing cases since 2014 in Indiana County, and 34 speeding violations in school zones.
There were five passing violations in 2018, three in 2017, eight in 2016, eleven in 2015, and three in 2014. Speeding violations in school zones ran about the same…seven last year, three two years ago, only one in 2016, six in 2015, and seventeen in 2014.
Across the state, there were 30,862 school zone violations between 2014 and 2018. Allegheny County had the most citations for illegal school bus passing and Montgomery led in the number of violations for speeding in a school zone. September, October and April were the months with the most school zone driving violations. Violators were slightly more likely to be male, and were most likely between the ages of 20 and 29.
