An Indiana County man that went missing last week was found dead over the weekend.
State police from the Troop A barracks announced that the body of 19-year-old Hayden Robert Garreffa was discovered in a remote, wooded area in Brush Valley Township around 4 a.m. on Saturday. Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman, Jr. was called in to the scene and ruled Garreffa’s death a homicide.
Further investigation by the Troop A Criminal Investigation Section found that Garreffa was the victim of a kidnapping and the subsequent homicide.
Troopers determined that Garreffa died on Thursday around 2:30 p.m., and an autopsy was conducted earlier today. The suspects involved in Garreffa’s death have been identified and taken into custody, according to state police, but their names have not been revealed yet.
The investigation is ongoing and additional details will be released at a later date.
Assisting state troopers were the Indiana County District Attorney’s Office, Indiana County Coroner’s Office, Ebensburg Borough Police Department, Johnstown Police Department, and U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.
