A ceremony to dedicate a portion of the Oakland Cemetery to veterans has been called off due to some possible inclement weather on Friday.

The plans to dedicate the new Garden of Honor in the Oakland Cemetery scheduled for 12:30 PM tomorrow were called off due to predictions of heavy rain and wind from the remnants of Hurricane Nicole hitting our area tomorrow. Officials with Oakland Cemetery have said they will reschedule the ceremony for a date later in the spring of 2023. However, the new 50 by 30 foot American flag is now on the flagpole located in the Garden of Honor, and people are encouraged to stop by and see the new tribute area.
No word if there are any other cancellations for Veterans’ Day ceremonies on Friday.
