Efforts are being planned to help the people who were left homeless after a fire destroyed an apartment building in Indiana Borough on Friday.
The fire on Friday afternoon burned down the apartment building at 122 North 6th Street. While crews arrived on-scene quickly, the fire moved from the first floor to the top of the building very quickly. Those living there were able to make it out safely, but are now left with very little as many of their belongings were destroyed.
One of the building’s owners, Amanda McAnaulty said that the community is starting to help those affected in finding a place to live.
There are also three fundraising efforts underway. One will be a GoFundMe campaign that went live at noon on Saturday. You can find the page at https://gofund.me/e53ed790 . A second will be held tomorrow morning at Grace Church, where people will be asked to bring grocery and gas cards to be dropped off at the church. A third effort for larger donations, like furniture and housewares, will be organized on Monday.
