Crews from Penelec and REA energy were busy yesterday dealing with multiple calls for utility lines down across Indiana County.
The first utility line-related call yesterday was reported at 1:36 a.m. by Indiana County 911. A total of 15 calls for utility lines down were reported in Burrell, Center, Rayne, Washington, Green, Armstrong, East and West Wheatfield, Buffington, Brush Valley and Pine Townships. The number of outages reported by PennDOT was close to 2000, while at one point over 800 REA energy cooperative members were without power in Indiana county.
Many of the lines down calls were due to the storm conditions that came through our area yesterday. As of this morning, only nine Penelec customers are without power. Those people are in Center, Cherry Hill, and White Townships. Penelec anticipates power will be restored by 3:00 this afternoon.
Meanwhile, REA Energy reports five of its customers in Center township remain without power from yesterday do the supply issues. It’s not known when power will be restored there. Another outage has been reported by REA Energy just south of Heilwood in Pine Township. 27 people have been affected by that outage, the power is expected to be restored by 7:15 this morning.
