The District 6 basketball playoffs got underway last night with games involving three Heritage Conference schools. Two of them came away with come-from-behind wins.
At Claysburg Kimmel, Homer-Center fell behind thanks to poor shooting, but the Wildcats heated up in the second half and came away with a boys Class Double-A win. Todd Marino reports.
At Glendale, Marion Center (also) trailed at the half, but came back to win a girls Double-A game. Here’s Jake Slebodnick.
Stingers coach Amy Trimble was proud of her team’s determination to win.
There was one other game last night involving an Indiana County team. Purchase Line traveled to top girls Class A seed Williamsburg and lost to the Lady Pirates, 65-29.
Tonight the 6th seeded Penns Manor boys travel to Bald Eagle Area to take on number three St. Joseph’s. We’re on the air on 92.5 FM U92 at 6:45. Another Heritage Conference boys team, Class A top seed Portage, will take on number 8 Conemaugh Valley.
In WPIAL play, the Indiana girls play Hampton tonight at Fox Chapel High School.
Even though Indiana is the higher seed, they do not get to host in their gym as other schools do because the seating capacity at the Indiana gym is not large enough to suit WPIAL rules. You’ll hear the game on WDAD beginning with the pregame at 7:45. Coach Otto Peterson says they won’t let the road trip bother them.
