Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. released the identity of one of the victims killed in a crash near Elderton on Monday.
In a news release issued Tuesday afternoon, Overman said at 1:31 p.m., 70-year-old Sonza Lee Marasco of Shelocta was driving north on Route 210 near Gastown Road in Plumcreek Township, Armstrong County, and tried turning left onto Brown Lane but was hit by another vehicle in the process.
Marasco and her daughter, who’s name was not released, were not wearing their seatbelt at the time and were ejected from the vehicle. Marasco was taken to the Indiana Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home in Indiana. You can also view her full obituary here.
Marasco’s daughter was pronounced dead at the scene by Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers, however details on her death have not been released yet
The crash is being investigated by the Indiana and Armstrong County Coroner’s office and state police from the Kittanning barracks.
